Upcoming Events presented by the Markham Teen Arts Council

The Markham Teen Arts Council hopes to present for creative the youth of some exciting events. Check back soon as the details get worked out.

24-Hour Video Challenge
Teenage students from across Markham in groups of one to ten will be given 24 hours to create a short film which will follow a common theme (undecided). Each group will compete against each other to see who can write, direct, and edit the overall best mini-movie. This provides young aspiring filmmakers an outlet for their creativity, teamwork and technical knowledge. After every team submits their finished videos in, they will be played at a screening at Markham Civic Center where the entire community can come and enjoy the film festival followed by an after party with proceeds going towards a charitable cause.  Winners will be announced during the night by a set of judges. Sponsored prizes will be rewarded.

A Moment to Remember – Monthly Photo Contests
Capture the Moment is a monthly photo contest hosted by the Markham Teen Arts Council, to give a chance to young aspiring photographers to become known. The photos should demonstrate a raw, undisturbed moment captured to demonstrate the theme of the month.

WordUp! Literary Showcase
The Markham Teen Arts Council is excited to launch their first event for the 2009-2010 year, the Word Up! Literary Showcase. This is an event intended for the teens of the Town of Markham to display their creativity using the English language in both written and spoken form, as well as read the works of other teens and get to know fellow writers.
